We were delighted to be called once again by Paul Basile at Basile Studio to film his newest design: Ironside Fish & Oyster. Paul wanted to show the workmanship that went into creating Ironside, by highlighting everything from the fabrication to the finished product in a longer format film. This masterpiece is located in a historic auction house on India Street in the Little Italy district of San Diego, and is a contemporary interpretation of the classic fish house and oyster bar. Basile Studio did a full comprehensive restoration of the building that included three open-air culinary hubs featuring an expansive raw bar, as well as a chef table and bakery.

ARCHITECTURE AND OYSTERS
When we walked into the building, right away it felt like New York City’s Grand Central Station inside the hull of the Titanic. Basile Studio wanted us to focus on the incredibly intricate and custom front roll-up garage doors with windows edged in brass. One of the walls sports hundreds of gold-plated piranhas, as well as old luggage stacked to the rafters. A giant octopus tentacle cradles a light bulb, while Big-band jazz plays a perfect mood in this perfect slice of new meets vintage.
